Gifts for the card club gals

Very easy to do... use the core from the toilet paper roll, cover it with your favorite paper, (leave about 1/2 inch or less on each end and fold in) crimp and glue one end, and crimp the opposite side in the opposite direction, add a treat and glue this end too.  Make sure to add a treat before you seal it completely. All that's left is to add your embellishment and tada your done.

Catch a Fairy

I told my youngest grandson I caught a fairy...he said, Grandma. So I told him he had to come over and catch one too. When he saw it he said, grandma....then he said can we make me one. I added an led light to the lid for a night light.  I love to make memories.

Old lamp shade re-purposed

Old lamp shade stripped to the wire.

Before you throw away those old lamp shades repurpose it...or just give it to your local thrift store, someone may want to use it.  Old lamp shade stripped to the wire and wrapped with lace.  I hung some paint sticks that my lace is wrapped with.  I coated the handles with a peach crakle paint to match the peach lace.  The way it's hung I can swing it around and grab lace off of it at any angle.

Old piece of luggage refurbished

Before and After: I bought the red vintage luggage, the inside was rotting so I decided to reline it.  I used some gift paper sacks that had a vintage design and added some lace for the girly affect.

The outside of the luggage was plain red, I added some vintage pictures to it using a gloss mod podge glue. I burnt the edges of the pictures to really give them that vintage look.

Children can't comprehend our worries

So scarry when a child looses his life on the playing field...but, how do you tell them no, "I don't want you doing this".  I have always told my children don't let life pass you by because of what might happen...if you want to try something do it. However, always give a 110% and if it's not for you then don't do it.  My son Tyler is a baseball pitcher and has played select baseball for a few years now...he wanted to try football for his middle school.  I really didn't want him to but, I told him if you really want to try this sport then do it.  We never know what our calling is but maybe in life and in death we can make an impact on someone elses life. I don't expect him to be a professional player but sports teaches them there is no I in team work and it takes team work to get thru life.  God be with us all and protect our children.

I'm relieved to say Tyler made it thru the season with no injuries... It being his first year he made the A team and a starting position as a guard.  He liked it and reports that none of the kids pick on him any more.  So I guess his point was well taken and he got there giving a 110%.

My oldest son, Justin, was a football player ...today at 33 he is a firefighter/arson investigator.  My daughter, Scarlett, was a basketball player...today at 29 she is a school teacher.

It's not the sport... it's the support and guidance we give as parents.

We can hope that the dedication will be passed on thru our children raising their children. As grandparents we get to just enjoy the grandchildren because the parents now have to give 110% and we just get to make memories with them.

It takes lots of hard work and dedication but well worth it...I give and gave them 110%.

Creativity

I joined a card club a few months ago, my very first one...I've never done cards before but the invite was perfect timing. It gave me a venue for creating and putting my mind else where.  Sometimes people have no idea what a simple gesture can do for someone.  I'm glad my friend Rochelle invited me and I'm glad I accepted.  This week end I will take pictures of some of the cards I have made, now mind you my cards are not as wonderful as some of the their's but they have not kicked me out yet.  It's been wonderful being apart of this club. I am always amazed at the creativity these ladies have.

I'm hoping to have some spare time because I also have some items I want to re-purpose and will take before and after shots to show.  Have a great week-end and happy crafting.
